St. Jerome Academy 

The League of St. Jerome is a collective of parents and friends of St. Jerome Academy in Hyattsville, Maryland. Its members support the Academy through prayer, fasting, and charitable works. The League is under the patronage of St. Jerome, St. Julie Billiart, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, and Our Lady of Guadalupe.

What is required of League members?

While this is a voluntary organization with no official roster or requirements, it is hoped that members participate in these prayers and offerings to the best of their abilities. Members are encouraged to do all of the following, but committing to just one is enough to help us fortify our community in grace.

For the spiritual protection of the students, faculty, staff, administration, benefactors, and families of St. Jerome Academy:

• Pray one Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be per day
• Offer one Mass per month
• Participate in a sign-up to cover the school days in prayer 
• Make one sacrifice or perform one charitable work per month

Recognizing that not all parents and friends of SJA are Catholic, membership in this League is open to all Christian faiths. If necessary, these prayers and offerings may be adapted to fit the member’s faith as long as the intentions are the same.

What else does the League do?

In addition to prayer, members are encouraged to read and discuss articles or book titles circulated to the League that pertain to the mission of St. Jerome Academy. In the future, we plan to host discussions on these texts once a semester. Please be on the lookout for further information.
