We are absolutely delighted to share that Mrs. Heather Campos, SJA's beloved Kindergarten teacher, has received the prestigious 2025 Golden Apple Award from the Archdiocese of Washington!
As an alumna of St. Jerome's and a dedicated teacher here since 1996, Mrs. Campos joins several esteemed colleagues who have also been honored with this award, including Mrs. Amy Clayton (2023), Mrs. Mary Pat Pollock (2021), and Ms.Louisa Arona (2018).
During the nomination process, one parent beautifully described the "loving environment in Mrs. Campos's classroom that offers the structure young children need to feel safe, along with the warmth that reassures them they are always supported in everything they do." Another parent shared, "Mrs. Campos teaches our kids how to treat each other with love, and she communicates wonderfully with us, the parents. [Our daughter] has truly thrived in this nurturing environment; she absolutely loves going to school and prays for each of her classmates and Mrs. Campos by name every day."
Beyond her classroom, Mrs. Campos has made a significant impact on the SJA community. She serves as the department chair of our grammar stage (K-5), where she mentors other teachers and is an integral member of our Academic Leadership Team. Additionally, she actively participates in our Building Task Force and Alumni Engagement Committee, and for many years, she has edited our yearbook. Teachers from other Catholic schools with classical models or those contemplating a similar shift often seek her valuable advice.
We are truly blessed to have Mrs. Campos as a colleague, a teacher, and an alumna of St. Jerome!
